The simple cooking and warm, friendly atmosphere has allowed The Mustard Seed to become one of Inverness’s favourite restaurants. The Location on the banks of the River Ness in a converted church building is simply stunning and helps create the wonderful ambience.

The transformation from disused church to restaurant created a unique space; with a double-height ceiling and magnificent open log fire. Many of the original period features were retained and combined with a mix of natural and modern finishes. The addition of the terrace on the top floor allows alfresco dining and uninterrupted views of the River, another amazing asset for the restaurant.

Had lunch here today and was absolutely delicious. Service and general atmosphere was perfect. Can highly recommend. Top marks to Ali for his friendliness and attentiveness, plus when he heard it was my birthday, went that extra mile and brought sparking candle to the table.

When you come from the towns and arrive in Inverness, you realize that there is more skill in the restaurants in the cities. More attention, more professionalism. The food was very good, the beef steak excellent, the battered haddock perfect, and the venue is very elegant, with two floors and many tables overlooking the river. Attentive, friendly, and with the air of a luxury restaurant, without being one. The price was excellent.

The tour company recommended six eating places in Inverness. My wife and I picked the Mustard Seed because it overlooks the River. The welcome was warm and the various menus introduced. The Specials board was attractive-my wife chose the duck from it! I love fish so I chose the cod cheeks. Food was beautifully presented and extremely tasty. The House Chablis went well with the fish. Desserts were also of a high standard. A great venue, but be sure to book in advance to avoid a wait for tables.
