Best place to eat in Inverness by a mile! Despite having heard on the grapevine that you need to book in advance for the Mustard Seed, we happily were found a table for lunch when turning up on the off chance. I'm so glad we tried! The food is really excellent. Well cooked, imaginative and healthy with plenty of choice. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Our waiter in particular was cheery and professional and sweet to the children. We would absolutely recommend the restaurant to anyone visiting Inverness and will definitely be booking in advance next time we head that way. Very impressed.

Great atmosphere - Delicious food My family took me here when I was visiting. We had a great river view table seat upstairs. The food was delicious. It would have been nice if the wait staff was a bit more friendly but I looked past that because the company, food and atmosphere was great.

Best service in town! We had the early dinner special and excellent value. The food was good and the service perfect! We were in three other high priced restaurants in Inverness and this was the best. For our two years old daughter the kids menus came with the starters and was ready to eat and not boiling hot.

Once again we dined at the fabulous Mustard Seed and we were not disappointed. This restaurant maintains a high standard of excellence both in the creative and varied menu options and the quality of the food. We booked again for our next trip to Inverness. The early bird menu is a real bargain.

I popped in here on the off-chance, lured by the great two-course lunch menu for £6.95. It was so good that I went back the very next day! The owner was chatty and friendly, the staff impeccably efficient, and the fish was amazing. Being a fussy eater, I went for the soup of the day on each occasion; if a few of the other starters hadn't had cheese in them I'd have given them a go. I'd highly recommend the salmon: perfectly cooked, with a delicious crispy skin. Plenty of veg to accompany it. Desserts? The raspberry and apple crumble wasn't great, a little too sickly. But I would eat the banoffee pie again. Great place

Had a two-course lunch at this restaurant. Surroundings are comfortable, modern and tastefully decorated. Our table was upstairs with a view of the river. The staff were helpful and friendly and the 2 course lunch was very reasonable prices at £6.95 per person, The food choices were good and the food freshly prepared to a high standard. We will definitely return on our next trip to Inverness. I would recommend booking to avoid disappointment as the restaurant is very popular.

Best restaurant in Inverness. We spent the night in Inverness last week as part of a Highlands road trip. Running a little late, we had some difficulty finding a restaurant until The Mustard Seed was recommended, presumably by a competitor. The service was warm and inviting. The food and drink exceptional. I can recommend the (Highland Fillet) steak tartare. The main courses, cheeseboard and ales were also fantastic.

I enjoyed an excellent meal at the Mustard Seed on Monday lunchtime this week. I was in a huge hurry with a very tight schedule and not really time for a restaurant meal. I was most impressed with the way Ryan and the other waiters hurried my order through giving me plenty of time to enjoy my two courses. Please will you thank them!

My favourite place. I can't say enough about the Mustard Seed it is by far my favourite restaurant in Inverness and I dine here regularly. My most recent experience - I enjoyed aranccini balls with garlic aioli, the arancini was beautiful, cooked to perfection, tradition and delicious. The garlic aioli - probably the best I've tasted, packed full of flavour. For main course I had meatballs with herb mash and spring veg sauce, these were a delight to eat, beautifully tender and not the overlooked hard balls you so often receive. Again delicious. By this stage I'm always full but can never resist a dessert. The Cranachan hit the spot, not too sweet just the right combination of flavours and a perfect way to end the meal. The wait staff as always are friendly attentive and completely professional, the whole experience is delightful and I will continue to dine in my favourite restaurant for many years to come.

Excellent Food and Great Service! Last night I took a friend to the Mustard Seed for dinner. We had both been to this restaurant many times and always found it good quality with excellent service and great value for money. On this occasion however, the quality and variety of the food was exceptional. My rabbit in filo pastry starter was delicious and my friend's beef ravioli in mushroom and thyme sauce was considered 'amazing'! Both of us had the rib eye steak with garlic mash. It was both tender and succulent, cooked to perfection and with a wonderful buttery garlic flavour. The cranachan desert was one of the best I have tasted in ages. All topped off with a fantastic bottle of Barolo for the 'cellar selection'. All in all a great evening. I can recommend this restaurant highly and will definitely be back again soon.

What a find! We ate here twice whilst staying in Inverness on holiday. We had been given a recommendation but also seen the great reviews on TripAdvisor. The minute we walked in we were 'wowed' by the atmosphere, mezzanine floor, contemporary live fire and the welcome by staff. The evening was great in every way and the food and wine list was first class. With a stunning place! The staff were delightful and very attentive also. The vista is wonderful - over the river Ness and also looks out over the yet-to-be-tried 'sister' restaurant, The Kitchen.

A perfect evening. This was our 2nd visit, our first was just after The Mustard Seed opened. We had made a reservation for 8:30 and got a great table on the first floor with views out to the river. I was looking for somewhere special for our first of 2 nights in Inverness. The second night was easy, we ate at (our favourite) their sister restaurant, 'The Kitchen' with it's floor to ceiling views of the river and relatively similar menu to the Mustard Seed, it is hard to beat. However, back to the Mustard seed. I like a simple, uncluttered menu. A carefully chosen, locally themed and sourced menu draws me in every time. Having said that, we then ordered from the specials board. I had the Chicken livers to start and a perfectly cooked Fillet of Beef, my wife also had the Chicken Livers then the Salmon. Local Black Isle Blonde Beer as an aperitif, a nice bottle of Tempranillo with the meal and the best Irish Coffee I have had in years! (Bailey's Coffee for the good lady) topped off a perfect evening. Total bill came to £79, not bad at all...

My best friend and I were visiting Inverness at the weekend, and having walked past your restaurant on a couple of occasions on Friday and Saturday, decided to have lunch with you on Sunday before travelling back to Aberdeen. We were astounded at how reasonable your prices were, and from the chap whom I spoke to when I popped in to make the reservation on Saturday to the waiting staff we encountered on Sunday, everyone was professional and courteous, and the service was efficient without being intrusive. The food was absolutely excellent, and confirmed we should make a return visit in the height of summer to dine on the balcony from your a la carte menu! Your staff are a credit to you and your restaurant is a credit to your profession; we also made a note to eat at The Kitchen at some point!

I was in your wonderful restaurant yesterday and just wanted to say what a great time my mum and I had. Your staff were so lovely and friendly and the chef kindly agreed to make me the dinner menu risotto option, which was great as I am a vegetarian and don't really eat eggs. I'm just about to graduate with a degree in hotel and hospitality management so I love restaurants, and yours was definitely a highlight. The only thing I would ask would be to maybe have another vegetarian choice on the menu, but either way the next time I'm in Inverness I will definitely be back! Thanks again.

I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed my recent visit to the Mustard Seed. I went there because I knew that everything would be good, the food, the ambience and the service and I was not disappointed. My sister and I visited Inverness from Canada, and arrived on a dreary rainy day. We came to Inverness to see where our mum had been born. We stumbled upon the Mustard Seed as we headed back to cross the bridge - we went inside, and discovered a glowing fire, friendly staff and one of the best meals I have ever enjoyed! The salad of haddock and greens was unbelievable - I have tried to duplicate it at home, but in vain. Thank you for such a great meal and surroundings, the next morning was sunny and we fell in love with Inverness - hope to come back soon.
